Buying a new laptop computer with all the latest software and operating system installed is a heaven' for some that is. But for others who have been dealing with a lot of problems, specifically with the computer speed, it is as close as regretting ever buying a new system and shouting 'Give me back my old computer!' Ironic, isn't it? In all fairness to the new laptops and desktops, yes, of course, they have their share of exceptional things such as higher specs, the great interface, design and appearance and brand new programs plus other add-ons such as widgets, and the like. Unfortunately, after quite some time, these consumers do not get to enjoy these new things anymore since they need to lessen their use of it. Why? Their computer is slowing down. Thus, to make computer faster has been their agenda ever since. Come to think of it, what's the use of buying a new one when you cannot feel its beneficial effects? So what is causing the sluggish performance of the computers? The new add-ons that new operating systems have may be the cause of the poor speed of some computers'may not be either. There are other factors that can cause this such as the new programs installed, its appearance, system settings, etc. To make computer faster, one must carefully examine all these factors to be able to assess what the primary cause is and later on figure out what steps to take to improve the computer's performance. The safest way to speed up a computer is to do the simple, basic steps to make computer faster ' cleaning up junk files, deleting old and unused programs, defragmenting, etc. Through this, you will notice (or not) if your computer speeds up. If not, it's probably time for a higher level of maintenance ' upgrading your specs. Having a higher end processor is a good start. Although again, for some of the latest operating systems, this may not be enough. A higher amount of RAM is needed in order for the higher end process to work well. A minimum of 1GB is ideal if you are using the latest operating system in the market today. Although at 1GB, you may still experience a slow down during start ups, when loading programs and even just browsing through folders. If one has the budget, the safest amount of RAM would be at 2GB, depending on the load you're putting on your computer. Because of too much frustration, some users are considering to downgrade their operating systems instead to make computer faster. This may be possible IF a lower version of the operating system is still available and supported. If it is available, then why not downgrade ' that is, if you only need a few basic programs to run. But for those who need to do a lot of heavy duty work, it might be best to stick with the newest and latest version so as to be sure you are getting the most updated and accurate support there is in the market. The only thing is, you have to be prepared to either upgrade your memory or put up with the sluggish performance of your computer. Either way, at least you are assured that the proper support and updates are duly given to your computer.
